The Workshop

ن :

This is one of the first emoticons we came up with. We used the colon with the letter 'noon' to express a lebanese slang expression equivalent to 'spit on you'. We visualized the letter to be the mouth, and the dot to be a drop of spit falling out. We made a couple more emoticons that you could spot spray painted across Bliss Street in Beirut.

Join this workshop by commenting on this post with your own arabic emoticons and what you think they stand for!

Cheers, Rehla! I like the Sa2 emoticon!

I'm done with stenciling, but I'm working on a website that will bring this idea to the world in a much more user friendly way. The site will be done soon and I'll put a link for it on here.
