ما هو العامل المشترك بين هذه الايموتيكونات؟ إن صياغتهم صياغة إنجليزية بحت فاستعمالنا للإنترنت لفترة طويلة أدى إلى وهبنا للكمبيوتر حق إختيار لغة توصلنا مع الآخرين و برغم تغير الأوضاع و دخول اللغة العربية للمعادلة ، فما زلنا نلجأ للأبجدية اللاتينية للتعبير عن أنفسنا. من برأيكم إبتدع هذه الايموتيكونات؟ أفراد مثلكم و مثلي! فلما لا نبتدع ايموتيكونات عربية بنفس السهولة؟ سوف تتفاجأ مما قد ينتج عن مزج القليل من الصبر مع مقدار كبير من الخيال! فنحن بدأنا بإبتداع بعض الايموتيكونات و باستطاعتك الإنضمام إلينا ، فالأمر سهل ، كل ما عليك أن تقوم به هو جلب لوحة مفاتيح الكمبيوتر و تحويلها للغة العربية و إطلاق العنان لمخيلتك

What do these emoticons have in common? They’re all in English… We’ve been using the Internet for so long that we let it decide for us what language we should communicate in. But although things have changed now, and Arabic has been introduced into the equation, and we still use Latin letters to express ourselves… Who do you think created these emoticons? People like you and me! So why can’t we create Arabic emoticons just as easily? We can! You’ll be surprised at what you can come up with if you mix a little bit of patience with a lot of imagination. We’ve started creating emoticons, and so can you… it’s easy. All you have to do is whip out your keyboard, switch to Arabic, and let your creativity flow…

هذه إحدى الإيموتيكونات التي قمنا بتصورها للتعبير عن العبارة اللبنانية الشعبية "تفو عليك". فالنون هي بمثابة الفم الذي تخرج منه نقطة اللعاب. بالطبع، هذه عبارة مجازية نستعملها للتعبير في سياقات مختلفة. فغايتنا من هذه الورشة ان نقوم سوياً بتصور وتأليف الإيموتيكونات عربية الشكل و المضمون.

This is one of the first emoticons we came up with. We used the colon with the letter 'noon' to express a lebanese slang expression equivalent to 'spit on you'. We visualized the letter to be the mouth, and the dot to be a drop of spit falling out. We made a couple more emoticons that you could spot spray painted across Bliss Street in Beirut.
